MELAGRANA: Pioneering a Fashion Shopping App with a Creative Twist
In the Autumn of 2014, I embarked on the ambitious MELAGRANA project, a concept for a mobile shopping app inspired by the captivating fashion editorials shot across Eastern Europe for a brand from Naples. The vision was to create an app that showcased and promoted local Italian fashion products, blending style with technology.
As the UX and UI Designer for MELAGRANA, my role was multifaceted and involved extensive field research. I conducted interviews in South Italy to gain insights into the local fashion scene and user expectations. This research was instrumental in employing UX methodologies to design an app that was not just aesthetically pleasing but also user-friendly and tailored to the unique needs of the Italian fashion market.
My journey in developing MELAGRANA involved crafting the UI and creating a clickable prototype. This prototype was more than just a design; it was a narrative that brought the essence of South Italy fashion editorials into the digital shopping experience. The challenge was to translate this artistic inspiration into a functional and engaging app interface.
The project culminated in pitching the prototype to potential investors, aiming to secure funding for launching the start-up. While the project ultimately did not materialize, the experience was invaluable. It was a testament to the power of creative collaboration and the importance of user-centred design in the digital space.
My work on MELAGRANA showcased my ability to lead a project from concept to prototype, using a blend of field research, UX methodologies, and UI design. It underscored my capacity to transform creative inspirations into tangible digital solutions, an experience that has been a significant milestone in my design career.
