Revolutionizing User Experience at Sky: From Senior Designer to Lead Innovator
In January 2020, my tenure at Sky as a Senior UX Designer began, marking a period of significant growth and innovation in my career. One of my initial challenges was the renewal of the TV Guide for Sky Glass, where I played a crucial role in both design and team coordination. Alongside this, I was deeply involved in the development of the Playlist feature. My approach was grounded in using tools like flows, personas, and prototypes to facilitate agile iterations, consistently enhancing the user experience. This experience at Sky was a testament to my adaptability and ability to innovate in a landscape that is always evolving.
Transitioning to the role of Lead UX Designer, my responsibilities expanded significantly. Not only did I lead and develop the UX strategy for key projects like the Full-Screen Experience (FSX) and Sky Go, but I also directed improvements to the Search and Playlist features, all while adapting our designs to cater to global territories.. This global perspective was crucial as Sky began transitioning the marketing of its Glass product from Business-to-Consumer (B2C) to Business-to-Business (B2B). Leading a team of four designers, I emphasized best practices and a user-centred methodology, ensuring our designs met diverse international user needs and aligned with Sky Glass’s expanding market strategy.
Under my leadership, the team adopted a user-centred methodology, ensuring that all our designs and innovations were firmly rooted in user needs and feedback. This approach was pivotal in aligning our projects with the overarching goals of Sky Glass, enhancing the user experience across the board.
A project that I was deeply passionate about and plan to delve into further was the TV Guide for Sky Glass. This project not only presented professional challenges but also allowed me to fully engage in a domain I am fervently passionate about. My journey from a Senior UX Designer to a Lead UX Designer at Sky was marked by significant milestones, with a focus on scaling projects for a global audience and adapting to the shift from B2C to B2B, all while revolutionizing the user experience for Sky Glass. Stay tuned for an in-depth overview of the TV Guide project, where I will share insights into the process, challenges, and innovative solutions that marked it as a highlight of my career.
